BRC Supports the Special Operations Warrior Foundation

BRC is proud to have been a Freedom-Level Sponsor of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) for their recent 13th Annual Emerald Coast Salute to Special Operations Forces event held in Fort Walton Beach Florida on November 16, 2017. BRC’s TMAS Platforms contract provides support to the 413th FLTS at Hurlburt Field, FL for Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) and Qualification Test and Evaluation (QT&E) of Special Operations Forces (SOF), Combat Search and Rescue, Tactical Mobility, and AF rotary wing weapon systems.

The SOWF organization was founded after the Iranian Hostage Rescue Mission of April 1980, informally known as "Desert One," to provide care for the families of fallen and wounded SOF. The organization is committed to providing a fully‐funded college education to the nearly 700 surviving children who are not yet of college age. Since its inception, the SOWF has provided free college educations as well as and post-high school training for the children of fallen Special Operations Warriors. The SOWF also provides financial grants, counseling and tutoring for students of severely wounded SOF service members. SOWF has garnered 11 consecutive 4-Star ratings from Charity Navigator which places them in the Top 1% of monitored charities. To accomplish this, 92%-95% of all monies collected must go directly to the beneficiaries (not administrative overhead).

The evening was a fantastic, feel good event, with a sit-down dinner provided. Several inspiring messages were presented throughout the evening by Vice Admiral Joseph Maguire, USN Retired and President/CEO of SOWF; Ms. Alyssa Gavaulic, Surviving Spouse of MSgt Joshua Gavaulic who lost his life in 2014 as a member of the 17th Special Tactics Squadron; and the keynote speaker, Mr. Keni Thomas, country singer and former USA Ranger and survivor of the Blackhawk Down incident in Somalia in 1993. Mr. Thomas’ presentation was enlightening, inspiring, entertaining and “real."

BRC generously sponsored a “company table.” BRC President/COO, Buck Buchanan and his wife Renee – along with members of our TMAS Team were in attendance. Bill Robb, BRC Platforms 413th Task Lead, coordinated BRC’s sponsorship for this event. Al Williams, BRC’s Deputy Task Lead for the 45th Test Squadron under the TMAS C4ISR/Cyber contract also attended this very worthy cause. Thanks to all who represented BRC during this tremendous event; BRC is proud to support our Special Operations Forces!
