Intelligent Battle Damage Assessment Station
The Intelligent Battle Damage Assessment Station (IBDAS) is a PC-based set of tools designed to facilitate rapid, accurate damage assessments at any level from theatre down to individual units. IBDAS is an effort to help the army push data products (space imagery and intelligence) down to lower levels in the force structure in an attempt to provide information to commanders at all levels. The goal is to provide OPFOR combat effectiveness information quickly for commanders within their area of interest, thus enhancing the reporting process. The system collects information from assets that report text and imagery information to the analyst in an effort to provide quicker response turnaround times.
The system utilizes bounded neural networks to automatically assess the amount of damage to a target. The data then updates unit order of battle information to provide current unit strength information to the commander. Bevilacqua is currently building the next generation Intelligent Joint BDA Collection, Correlation, and Dissemination Workstation for the Army Space and Missile Defense Battle Lab (SMD-BL) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This workstation will operate in a collaborative environment, allowing BDA analysts deployed at different locations to work against the same Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace (IPB).
