Entity Development Graphical Editor - EADTB SSR Editor
The Entity Development Graphical Editor (EDGE) was developed to enhance the functionality of the design and development of Synthetic System Representation (SSR) entity behavior Rule-Sets that will be read with the Extended Air Defense Testbed (EADTB). The primary purpose for developing EDGE was to leverage the flexibility and functionality of the EADTB Thinker component to improve the realism of actions/reactions of the constructive entities within distributed simulation environments. EDGE provides a method for graphically representing SSRs to allow subject matter experts and other non-programmer personnel to quickly and efficiently build, analyze, and modify entity behaviors. EDGE supports EADTB human decision-making logic, behavioral and control representations, and the Thinker representation of vulnerability.
The main goal of the EDGE system is to support course of action analysis as well as Mission, Enemy, Troops, Terrain, and Time (METT-T) analysis without human intervention. EDGE seeks to advance the current state of the art technologies in collecting, verifying, validating, and storing information and data that enable cognitive reasoning modeling. The objective of this project was to create a tool that utilizes conceptual graphs so that non-programmers can create and/or edit SSR behaviors with ease. EADTB SSR behaviors are defined or programmed by the use of Rule-Set code. The EDGE tool was created to import the Rule-Set code into Conceptual graphs that represent both the behaviors and the decision process that control the activation flow of individual behavior units.
