Threat Simulator Development
Bevilaqua developed a low fidelity virtual simulation of the interior and interactive behavior of a Russian 2S6 Tunguska armored vehicle for the Threat Systems Management Office (TSMO). It is capable of participating in a real-time DIS exercise with other appropriate DIS compliant simulators. There are three independent operator stations - commander, radar operator, and gunner, with the radar operator station doubling as the driver station. This allows each of the four crew positions to be represented.
In addition to modeling the human-in-the-loop behavior, the simulator adequately represents the operational characteristic of the system. The Hot Shot surveillance and tracking radar's capabilities are range restricted accordingly. The armaments - 2A38M cannon and SA-19 missiles - are modeled such that effective engagement ranges, weapon reload time, target range and speed, and launcher azimuth and elevation reflect the performance of the actual system.
